Thanks to interviews with cocktail experts like Houston's Bobby Heugel, the story quickly became a history lesson on the development of an innovative bartending scene that seamlessly mixes Cajun, Texan, and Northern Mexican traditions. The article went on to receive an award from the Houston Press club in 2013.
